Last week I had knee replacement surgery. If I could be honest, I would love to have instant healing – no more pain, no more sleepless nights, no more walking with a cane, and the ability to drive again. I wish I could snap my fingers and have a workable body again.

While I would have liked instant healing the moment I woke up in the hospital, the reality is that this kind of recovery takes time and lots of physical therapy. So, I must be patient.

You may be able to relate to this. You can see the benefits on the other side, but getting there is hard work. It’s not happening as fast you would like.

We want instant healing. An instant solution. Instant delivery. Instant change of circumstances. You fill in the blank.. I want instant __________________________________.

Even though we live in the microwave era, some things we have to wait for.

But the good news is that the Bible tells us of a day when we don’t have to wait. I conclude my two-part series on “What will happen at the Rapture of the Church?”

In my previous post, we learned what we will see and hear when Jesus comes to retrieve His Body, the Church. Today, I would like to take a few moments to talk about what will happen to us.

And it all happens instantaneously.

Let’s discover three things that will happen to us at the moment we are caught up in the air with our Bridegroom.

In an instant, we will be…

Changed!

The Apostle Paul splendidly states, “We will all be changed – in a flash, in the twinkling of an eye” (1 Corinthians 15:51-51).

Faster than we can blink, we will trade in our earthly bodies for our heavenly bodies. Listen to the description of this transformation: “Our bodies are buried in brokenness, but raised in glory. They are buried in weakness, but they will be raised in strength. They are buried as natural human bodies, but they will be raised as spiritual bodies” (1 Corinthians 15:43-44).

Can you think of anything more exciting than a new body – a body without limitations, a body that will not grow old, and a new body that will never see death? I say so long to this old body. How about you?

Another way we’ll be changed is that we will share in His glory (Romans 8:17). What this means is that we will be given glorified bodies – bodies without sin and corruption – just like Jesus’ body.

Our eyes will be fully opened so we can see Jesus in all His glory – something we are kept from in our human form. Imagine that?

In an instant, we will be…

United with other believers!

Scripture tells us that at the moment of the Rapture, all believers (dead and alive) will be caught up together to meet the Lord in the air.

Oh my goodness, we will be reunited with our loved ones who have gone on ahead of us. I cannot wait to see my dad, my sister, my grandparents, and so many more. This is certainly one of the greatest blessing we have to look forward to. As the disciples recognized Jesus in his glorified body, we will recognize others as well.

In an instant, we will be…

Reconciled to Jesus!

1 Thessalonians 4:17 says that when Jesus descends from heaven, we will meet Him in the air.

New BOC coverHere’s an excerpt from our Bride of Christ: Being Rapture Ready Bible study:

You and I lose a piece of our heart when a loved one dies—we miss them every day. Death is the hardest part about living on this earth. I remember the last holiday my dad spent with our family. The day before Thanksgiving, the doctors told him he probably had three to six months to live. The next day, as our family gathered together to celebrate Thanksgiving dinner, Dad whispered in my ear, “Don’t forget to mention me next year.” Tears welled up in my eyes. While we will never forget the beloved patriarch of our family, holidays will never be the same because he is no longer with us. We miss him terribly. Beloved, this is how Jesus feels every moment of the day. Imagine the joy in His heart on the day of the Rapture when the whole Church is reconciled to Him. Jesus will finally have all of us with Him forever and ever. Can you see the smile on His face?

So, are you excited yet? You should be. This day will usher in a brand new life for the Church. And you and I get to join in all the festivities. And again, all this happens instantaneously.

Let’s keep carrying the torch and running the race. One day, everything will change for us.
